Hi Everyone,

Today's featured How-To video is a quick lesson on how to make hummus. Hummus is a Middle Eastern dip made of chickpeas blended with tahini (sesame seed paste), olive oil, lemon, salt and garlic - making this dip a good source of protein, iron, fibre and monounsaturated fat (you know the ones good for your heart).

Hummus is delicious and is great to serve as a dip with vegetables and pita bread. It's also easy to make and a great recipe for the kids to help with or even for them to make on their own (some supervision may be required).

I will show you how easy it is to send to school for lunch or to serve it at your next party. Share with us your favourite way to serve hummus.

  •  1 can chickpeas
  • 2 cloves garlic
  •  2 tbsp olive oil
  •  Lemon juice to taste
  •  Pinch of lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp  tahini
  • Touch of salt
Rinse chickpeas well and place in a large bowl. Add garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, tahini and salt. Blend in blender or with hand blender until smooth. Serve immediately or put in fridge for later.
