A vinaigrette is a simple oil and vinegar combination. Michele shares her very easy and very versatile recipe.
Basic Vinaigrette
1/2 cup oil (any type: canola, olive, peanut, sunflower, etc)
1/2 cup acid (lemon or lime juice or any type of vinegar: white, red wine, cider, balsamic, etc)
1 cloves of minced garlic
1 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
generous pinch of dried basil (or try dill, oregano, thyme, etc)
Dash of salt and pepper
1 tsp of sweet (white sugar, honey or maple syrup) - this is optional
Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl or shake in a sealed jar. Store in the fridge.
Drizzle over a tossed garden salad.
